"La Divina Commedia Concept"

The idea of this project is the creation of a fusion show, always different, always evolving and prepared within a weekend; for GothlaUK, these special workshop will be held on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, with the show being performed on Saturday night.

The Divine Comedy is an epic poem by Dante Alighieri, begun c. 1308 and completed 1320, a year before his death in 1321. It is widely considered the preeminent work of Italian literature and is seen as one of the greatest works of world literature. The poem's imaginative vision of the afterlife is representative of the medieval world-view as it had developed in the Western Church by the 14th century. It is divided into three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso.

On the surface, the poem describes Dante's travels through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise or Heaven but at a deeper level, it represents, allegorically, the soul's journey towards God.

Every edition involves three artists (one for each Inferno, Purgatory and Paradise), who will teach these special workshops and perform in the show: A maximum of 15 dancers will be assigned to each instructor:

Inferno: Francesca Pedretti
Purgatory: Alice Giampieri
Paradiso: Patrizia Pin

"To share my vision and give opportunities to many dancers to be in an amazing and creative project, makes me feel highly motivated: they can learn and challenge with their partners, to be part of the bellydance community and share with loved artists" Francesca Pedretti
